Henok is a 2 month old baby boy. Sadly, his mother died in a poorly equipped health center during the delivery. The grandmother of baby Henok was left to care for this baby. The grandmother is very poor and couldn't afford to buy the needed baby milk for the baby
After a few weeks she came to our local hospital to see if they could give her some baby formula. The hospital staff checked the baby and he was immidiatly admitted as he was sick and malnourished.
After he got better the hospital discharged baby Henok but was not able to supply the grandmother with the needed baby milk to continue feeding the baby at home. This hospital referred the baby to Abraham's Oasis and we were happy to assist this grandmother with the much needed baby milk and some clothes.
Abraham's Oasis staff educated the grandmother on how to use the baby bottle and prepare the baby milk in a hygienic way.
The grandmother receives the needed follow-up support and little baby Henok is doing well.
Just an example of the needs around us. Yes we believe in breast milk is the best option for babies but when there is no breast available we need to go for the second best option and use tinned baby formula in order to safe the lives of these vulnerable babies. The cost are prohibitive for families and currently we are the only organization in our area filling the gap. We are thankful for your support to help us to stand for the most vulnerable members of our community, the new born babies.
We are currently supplying baby formula for 50 babies on a monthly basis.
Thank you so much for helping babies like baby Henok to have a future!
