Dropout 500 Girls Back to High School in Pakistan

A Case study - Farida Kasur District Punjab

Farida was shared her fear with director of Muwakhat Foundation, her parents stop her education by end of this year due to transportation expenses.

Farida is getting free education in government school of Kasur city. she lived 7 kilometer distance from her school and paying Rs.5,000 per month (US$ 50) of school van to reach schol for education. Her father is very poor and cannot bear education expenses of six children. He planned to dropout his two daughters from school to decrease expenses but her father did not discontinune education of his two sons. this gender discrimination disturbed her very much.

She is determined to continue her study and become doctor.

Tabinda Alkans Jaffery director Muwakhat Foundation observed during her visit girls school Kasur city that 9% girls dropout due to distance of school. The problem can be resolved if transportation provide to girls who lived far from school.

PROJECT OF MUWAKHAT FOUNDATION

Foundation started to help girls for rejoin school and fulfill their dreams. Under this project Girl and her family support to

1) provide food pakage US 15 dollar per month against one child allow to send school.

2) provide family health insurance coverage US$ 20 for 12 months 

3) provide admission fee, books, shoes, school bags for child

4) provide monthly school fee US$ 10 for a child

WAYFORWARD

After did informal survey of government schools, the biggest problem highlighted after school fee is transportation expenses. Girls cannot continue free education due to distance of school.

Muwakhat Foundation will bring microproject for support of girls to continue their education
