The Landin School received approximately $3,000 from Global Giving. The remainder of the budget requied- aprox. $9,000 - was funded by our general funding to the Human Development Foundation. All repairs were made, and the school remains active and full of slum children gaining their first lessons in reading and writing and more.
Last year, monsoon floods inundated major areas of Bangkok, including the area around the Landin School. The Landin school received major damage and was forced to close its doors for a few months. However, we sought and found a temporary space to teach our kindergarten children, and for several weeks, before the floods subsided, we secured rubber boats to take our children to and from school.
Today, repairs have been made. The school is back to normal again. Kids come and go, singing their first songs, writing their first abc's.
