We have just finished the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, during which we delivered regular lessons for Ukrainian refugee children aged 5 - 14 residing in Budapest, Hungary (Preparation for Elementary School; English; Hungarian; Computer Gaming), and language courses for Ukrainian adults (English; Hungarian).
The work over The Beauty That Unites Us project included holding a Halloween weekend at a horse farm, tote painting and Christmas artisanry masterclasses, a Nativity puppet performance, and a Christmas greeting party with the Ukrainian Ambassador. We have also assisted the local UNHCR office in interviewing Ukrainian refugee families and distributing humanitarian packages.
As usual, we tried to help our children master new skills and gain new knowledge, make friends, and simply enjoy our facility as a stress relieving and educational centre for the Ukrainian community in Budapest.
However, not all our plans were fulfilled – namely, we did not manage to publish a trilingual English-Hungarian-Ukrainian booklet, The Beauty That Unites Us, due to the shortage of funds. We are still hoping to complete this project in 2026, which may become an excellent training aid for ethnic Ukrainians, students of Hungarian schools.
