Keep the Clinics Afloat

When we launched this campaign in May 2026, five of The Lake Clinic's floating clinics were in serious structural trouble. Steel hulls had corroded away, leaving only fiberglass shells — some already bulging under water pressure. These clinics are the only source of healthcare for nine villages on the Tonlé Sap with no roads, no hospitals, and no alternatives. The urgency was real.

We are pleased to report that the hull repairs have been completed. Rust was removed, anti-rust paint applied to all interiors, and internal iron supports installed to stop hull bulging across all five clinics. The work was carried out by the only contractor willing to operate on the lake, and all five clinics are now structurally sound and back in full operation.

The repairs were funded through The Lake Clinic's US-based organization, TLC USA, rather than through GlobalGiving donations. We are closing this project because the need it described has been met. The two donors who gave to this campaign — thank you. Your response to our appeal mattered, even as funding came together from another direction.

Since 2007, The Lake Clinic has delivered free healthcare across the Tonlé Sap. In 2024 alone, our clinics conducted 405 missions and delivered 25,750 health services to communities most would never reach. The floating clinics are central to that work. Keeping them afloat keeps that care alive.
