I am writing to you after a rather long gap! A vacation outside one's country sometimes has us unsettled and results in losing track of somethings like writing to people we care about.
I was on a holiday (plus work from home) - visiting my son and his family in Canada. I returned in July. I must say it is great to be back here, doing all that I love to do.
The best things that happened since my return was that I delivered a lecture to Dental Undergraduate students at the YMT Dental College Navi Mumbai and then did workshops in three medical colleges in Mumbai and one in Patiala, Punjab
The first was part of a research event that the students had organized. It is great to see more and more UG students showing interest in research.
The workshops in Mumbai were a start to utilizing the balance of the grant money we have from the Pfizer grant from the last year's "THIRST for AIIMS" project. We spent money so carefully that we have some left over and on our request, Pfizer gave us permission to utilize the same for medical colleges in Mumbai. We will be doing a few more.
In Patiala, it was organized by a department of the college. They formed a registered Not for Profit society recently called "Respiratory Forum" and planned the workshop through the forum. The main organizer Dr Vishal has been a staunch believer in our workshops and this is the fourth time I conducted this out there.
A little about my holiday in Canada. My son and daughter in law have twins - a boy and girl who are nearing six. My granddaughter one day asked me why I was working when I was on vacation! I explained things to her as best as I could. Last evening when I talked to both on a video call, I told them how much I miss them. They asked me to come back right away. When I said I had lots of work here, they both said "You can work from here too"!
That's the innocence of children! I hope I can pass on a bit about the feeling of being passionate about whatever they love doing. My granddaughter is already passionate about drawing and the arts. My grandson shows passion for numbers. I hope they can find their niche.
And with that - a message to every youngster (and young at heart) reading this - "May you find your passion and soak in the bliss!"
