A Committed Dean Champions the Right Way to Search and Cite

Participants and the Dean - comimted to learn!

Welcome to 2025 and a Very Happy New Year from all of us at QMed!

I am happy to highlight an inspiring story from the Government Medical College Dharashiv (Osmanabad), where we conducted a workshop on January 22nd. This workshop was truly special. Dharashiv is a small town in the State of Maharashtra. The Medical College is fairly new - just about 3-4 years old

Dr. Shilpa, the Dean, has long been a strong advocate for structured literature searching and evidence-based research. Our connection goes back many years—first, when she attended my lecture as a young medico, and later, when she brought three of her own residents to our office for a dedicated PubMed training session. Even back then, she was very vocal about how important these skills were for medicos.

Fast forward to 2024, when we reconnected, she immediately took the initiative to organize a workshop for her institution. She was determined to make it happen, despite the challenges of a resource-constrained town. She personally ensured that we had uninterrupted power and internet connectivity—things we often take for granted in larger cities.

Her leadership brought together a dedicated team. The technical staff ensured smooth connectivity, and the medical faculty and students were fully engaged, leading to impressive post-test scores. Now, we are in discussions to integrate our eLearning courses and plan advanced training programs.

Dr. Shilpa’s journey—from being a learner in our programs to championing research education as a Dean—is truly commendable. Thank you, Dr. Shilpa, thank you to your faculty, students and your team, for the commitment! And as always, a big thank you to #Pfizer for their grant that made this possible.
