Last quarter, we saw our work come to a full circle. Divya, a Bhumi Bring Smiles Scholarship beneficiary, turned into a volunteer for one of our programs and trained 60 students in the same government school she studied at previously. “It was my dream to volunteer with Bhumi. When I entered the school, I was surprised to realize it was the same school I studied at during 6th Std. It is an amazing feeling to go back to the same classroom as a teacher and get so much respect from students,” Divya remarked. Divya's journey is a moving narrative of hope, a vivid illustration of how the seeds of education, once sown, can blossom into extraordinary opportunities, transforming lives and communities.
Between the months of October 2023 and December 2023, a saga of relentless effort and unwavering commitment unfolded. Bhumi supported 300 students through education scholarships. Nearly 5,000 youth were enrolled in Bhumi’s Skill-Ed program to be trained in digital & technical skills and soft skills that will help them become job-ready. Over 3,500 students benefitted from our EcoChamps program to become ambassadors of environment sustainability through awareness sessions and experiential projects. Close to 2,064 students attended 4,401 classes under our Ignite Communities program, which consists of after-school education and activity sessions at our learning centers for children in urban slums. Finally, via our Ignite Shelter program, over 250 trained volunteers delivered well-curated lessons dotted with fun activities for 3,200 students during the weekends. The lessons covered English, Mathematics, Science, Robotics, Computers, Mentoring, Arts, Sports, and Life-Skills support.
Bhumi's story, weaved with dedication and nurturing care, is more than a narrative of numbers and programs. It's a heartwarming testament to the power of giving back, of dreams coming full circle, and the immeasurable impact of nurturing the potential within every child. It’s a reminder that in the journey of life, the most beautiful destinations are often reached by giving a part of ourselves to light the way for others.
