Dear Donor,
We are happy to report that your support is making a difference in Kenya now. We bought pads from the Kenyan, Empowering Women Period company to provide 7,000 pads in an area of the most impoverished region in Kenya. Our NGO partner, Dandelion distributed them with important public health and reproductive health information to rural and diverse tribal groups with little or no support.
We also sent the equivalent amount to India to the Mukti company in the red light district run by New Light where women in the red light district are given a path to earn a living making biodegradable sanitary napkins. NPR's news director Windsor Johnston volunteered through us and just did a poignant story on our partner Urmi Basu and New Light and Empowering Women Period.
We would like to especially thank the people who commit to sending the funds through Global Giving as a small monthly donation. This allows us to be consistent in our support of women-run businesses that provide biodegradable sanitary pads to girls in great need.
While this is just a pad to many, to the girls who need them, your donation j means a commitment to a girl who only knows she can attend her classes without worry.
Both programs take volunteers so if you are interested, let us know. Thank you so very much and please read the inspiring story about Urmi.
