Dear Friends,
Thanks to your generous support, Elephants for Africa is making meaningful strides in shaping Botswana’s next generation of environmental stewards!
We’re excited to share that we’ve acquired nearly 3,000 copies of the educational comic VUSA The Elephant Guardian - a vibrant and engaging comic book designed to teach children about elephant ecology and how to safely coexist with these magnificent, yet potentially dangerous, animals.
Written by our founder, Dr. Kate Evans, and Dr. Michelle Henley, CEO and Co-Founder of Elephants Alive, the comic was brought to life through a fantastic collaboration with Elephants Alive, SATIB Insurance Brokers, Humane Society International, Tangle Wood Foundation NZ, Pinetown Printers - and supporters like you!
Distribution is now in full swing at our partner schools in rural villages, where the comics have been met with huge enthusiasm - lots of smiles, eager page-turning, and curious questions. The story of the main character, Vusa, and the comic’s vibrant illustrations have been especially popular, making conservation fun and relatable for children living in elephant-range areas.
We’ve also shared copies with an offical from the Ministry of Education. If the Ministry sees their value, this could pave the way for wider distribution of conservation-themed educational materials throughout Botswana.
This project is at the heart of our mission - to foster awareness, understanding, and coexistence between people and the wildlife they live alongside. By delivering conservation education through creative storytelling, VUSA The Elephant Guardian is helping to inspire a new generation of wildlife champions.
From all of us at Elephants for Africa - thank you. You've helped turn an idea into a meaningful, lasting resource for the young minds who will shape the future of conservation in Botswana.
With gratitude,
Steph and the Elephants for Africa Team
