Books Donation & Distribution Report (Quarterly 2026)
Alif Laila Book Bus Society
In 2026, Alif Laila Book Bus Society continued to expand its nationwide efforts to ensure that children, especially those in underserved and remote communities, have access to quality books and meaningful learning opportunities. Through strategic partnerships and generous support from Hoopoe Books, Big Bad Books, and Lahore American School, this quarter marked a significant scale-up in both reach and impact.
Across multiple regions of Pakistan, books were distributed to schools, community spaces, and newly established libraries, strengthening reading ecosystems where resources are scarce or non-existent. In Buner, four new Hamara Kutub Khana libraries were successfully established, each equipped with complete book collections. In addition, four more curated sets were entrusted to the Head of Department, Dr. Siddique ur Rehman, to be further distributed among Government High Schools, ensuring wider institutional reach and sustainability.
In the Shauka area of Borewala, two schools, Government Girls High School and Government Boys High School, received dedicated library sets, bringing structured reading resources into formal education spaces. In Dera Allahyar, Balochistan, book distribution was carried out during field visits to Hamara Apna School (Bamboo School) and extended into surrounding villages, directly reaching children with little to no prior access to books.
The Sukkur region witnessed one of the most impactful outreach efforts this quarter. Through Hamara Kutub Khana Sukkur and Camel Library networks, books reached children across dispersed and hard-to-reach communities. A large-scale distribution drive in Sulah Putt focused on children who are entirely excluded from formal library systems, while additional support was extended to schools managed by IRC, strengthening partnerships and maximizing reach.
Closer to home, book distribution in the Canal Park community ensured that children in low-income urban neighborhoods were also included in this movement, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to equity across both rural and urban contexts.
Looking ahead, upcoming collaborations with IBBY Pakistan on 23rd and 24th April 2026 will further extend this impact through distribution drives at Communal Hubs and SOS Villages, bringing books into spaces that nurture some of the most vulnerable children.
This quarter’s work reflects more than distribution; it represents a growing movement to restore the joy of reading, ignite imagination, and build foundational literacy across Pakistan. Through initiatives like My Book My Friend, Alif Laila continues to place books directly into the hands of children, creating not just readers, but confident, curious, and empowered learners.
With continued support from partners and donors, we remain committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of geography or background, has access to books, learning, and a brighter future.
