WA Clubs continue their multi-faceted work in mitigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic among our members. Investments and programming are targeting mental health and well-being, academic support, fun and pro-social recreation! But sometimes we are missing a key ingridient...
Many teens dropped out from afterschool programming during the pandemic, due to program closures, at-home childcare responsibilities, needing to find a job, and many other complex reasons. Clubs and other youth programs are still pursuing various strategies to rebuild our teen membership, so that more young people could find a safe place to be after school and a trusted adult mentor.
In 2023, WA Clubs are adding or reviving programs such as Days of Advocacy or Youth of the Year to engage our exisitng and new teen members in skill-building activities like public speaking, networking and interviewing. Clubs are investing time and resources in workforce development programs that help teens get oriented to the world of work, and plan for a brighter future.
Your ongoing support of WA Clubs allows us to reach more youth, and offer relevant programs to keep them in our safe and welcoming Clubs, productively engaged, and becoming caring and responsible citizens.
