lndian Association for the Blind (lAB) is a renowned non-profit organization based in South India. We work to provide good quality education, employment, training and rehabilitation facilities for visually challenged children and youths from rural areas. It was established in 1985 by visually challenged activist Late Mr. S.M.A.Jinnah and a group of like-minded visually challenged people. Till date, IAB has benefited more than 11200 youths. They now hold prestigious positions in society.
Thanks to the support from GlobalGiving, we have received donations from 20 philanthropists till date for this project. The total raised amounts to $1264. This sum has really helped us move closer to the dreams and desires of our students in owning individual copies of good quality Braille text books.
These donations will be really useful for helping our students have a memorable educational experience and for guiding them in the right way of approaching the study material. Our students are very happy about the materials provided to them by way of these donations. Their interest towards studies has certainly increased. Owning individual copies of their text books helps in increasing their interest towards studies and provides them the opportunity of studying at their own pace. It helps reduce time constraints.
