Our initiative aims to help 1,000 underprivileged girls in Turkey complete their school education. Focusing on girls in the 7th grade, our support enables them to continue their education for the next 6 years until they graduate from high school. We’ve received a number of donations over the past three months and we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone involved. Our initiative is having a real and lasting impact on the lives of underprivileged girls; for example:
Busra, is an 8th-grade student from Ulukisla, Nigde. Her parents divorced before she was born. She lives with her mother and grandmother. During the summer holidays, Busra works as a cleaner to help with the household bills. She doesn’t have a computer or even a bed of her own. However, thanks to the CYDD scholarship, she can offset the money she would otherwise need to earn as a cleaner and instead, continue her schooling. Her teachers say that she’s a good student. She plays basketball and volleyball and is one of the best runners in her class. Büra knows she has to study hard at school. She wants to be a nurse when she grows up so that she can use her education to help others.
Hatice from Konya is also an 8th-grader whose parents divorced when she was very young. She has a great role model at home, as her mother decided to further her own education after Hatice was born and graduated from university at the age of 30. She has always worked to take care of her daughter and Hatice adores her. However, life as a single mother is hard and she often struggles to find a job to support her family. Hatice’s grandmother also lives with them and they take care of their baby cousin whose mother sadly passed away. Hatice needs her CYDD scholarship to help support her family so that she can go to school like other, more privileged, children. She dreams of becoming a medical doctor when she’s older.
All the girls we’re able to support with this initiative are eager and determined to study. We feel privileged to be able to help them build a future for themselves.
Thank you for your continued support.
