Sisters Project Realignment Report

By Solomon Abbey | Child Rights Advocate

Reference: Sisters Project Meeting with Send a Smile Team (September 16, 2025)

This report summarizes the key strategic shifts made to the Sisters Project—a core component of our mission to Empower Girls & Women in Ghana with Fawohodie—following a critical meeting with our partners, the Send a Smile Team.

Due to initial financial constraints that hindered outreach and progress, we have redefined the project's scope to ensure maximum impact and sustainability.

Strategic Relaunch: Expanding Impact

The team collectively agreed to a significant adjustment to the project's focus to overcome funding limitations and achieve broader reach.

  • Original Focus: The Sisters Project initially focused on supporting sex workers.
  • Revised Focus: The target group has been expanded to include girls in general, making the project more inclusive and sustainable. This broader scope includes young girls and young mothers.

New Engagement Model: Sustainability and Accessibility

To ensure project continuity despite current funding issues, the Ghana team proposed transitioning to a cost-effective, high-reach engagement model.

  • Online Approach (Ghana Team): The revised concept involves an online engagement model to significantly reduce operational costs while increasing accessibility to all girls. This approach will leverage digital platforms for education, mentorship, and empowerment sessions.
  • Collaborative Vision: The German team shares a similar vision focusing on working with girls, including young girls and young mothers, through physical workshops and clubs, and both teams have agreed to explore merging these approaches.

Next Steps: Securing Resources

The project is moving forward with collaborative planning and a strong commitment to securing the necessary resources.

  1. Concept Note Development: The initial draft of the project's concept note is being developed by the project lead and co-led by a designated contact person from the German team. This foundational document will be finalized after feedback from both teams.
  2. Collaborative Grant Applications: Both the Ghana and German teams will work together on grant applications. The grant application process is scheduled to commence in October 2025.

Conclusion:

This strategic realignment ensures the Sisters Project is well-positioned to progress effectively once funding is secured. Our commitment to strengthening collaboration is key to successfully rolling out the revised project under the umbrella of Empower Girls & Women in Ghana with Fawohodie.
