This month we bring you an update from our new Project Manager at the school, Shahnaz:
It is a real delight for Kindergarten students to have daily breakfast at SMB Fatima Jinnah School. The kids are served milk with Horlicks every day along with other nutritious items like apple, banana or melon, bread slice with jam and butter, instant noodles, biscuits, cakes and boiled eggs. They're enjoying a different menu almost every day of the week.
For the upcoming winter season, we are planning to introduce mashed potatoes, chicken and vegetable soup, fresh vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, more frequent servings of boiled eggs, etc. as an addition to the current menu.
Most of these Kindergarten students come from a locality where the concept of a proper breakfast is not a practical one for the parents because of the low income of families and because of day by day increasing rates of food items. With the School Breakfast Programme, these kids feel satisfied, fed, energized and taken care of, which has boosted their morale and confidence level in addition to their mental ability to grasp things.
Adding the Horlicks energy drink to the Breakfast menu has worked wonders and has attracted children to school like never before. It is reported that attendance of KG students is always at the best level as compared to other classes. Thanks to GlobalGiving and all the donors worldwide who make this program possible - you have made school an adorable place for our kids. We look forward to your continued support and hope you enjoy the videos and pictures of our students and teachers from the Breakfast Room!
