Greetings. I am Aishima, a project manager of Kenya project.

We are currently on the final stage in some activities supported by United Nations. But the project is going on till all women and girls in Kenya can live smiling during the menstruation.

In the local area, many girls and women are still struggled during the menstruation without sanitary napkins. The sanitary napkin is not only for the sanitation but also for protect women rights in Kenya.

Our activities mainly two parts, to support the production of the sanitary napkins, and open the workshop to promote understanding of menstrual health.

For the first parts, we work with the school as the one of the educational activities about how a local women group can make sanitary napkins. And we also support production parts with women refugee groups. We plan to rent a place and set up a produce spaces where the refugee women group produce sanitary napkins for women in Kenya.

For the second part, we try to change the perception of society, so we call parents, men, and boys so that many people know how the sanitary napkins change the women's life. Recently we engaged with religious and community leaders who play the key roles change entire communities.

In Addition, to these planned activities, PWJ held local events in collaboration with UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) and other aid agencies on May 28, 2022 to help them realize the importance of menstrual hygiene management.

"What we used at the event was "Photo Voice", the events which participating members of the project brought photos and discussed them and created a "voice" that we wanted to convey based on experience and feelings.

With the photos which took by community members and students, women and girls discussed what efforts being made to improve menstrual hygiene and what was hindering them staying safe and secure. As we create an easy-to-speak environment, many women can speak their voice.

We plan further activities to create more comfortable environments to women in Kenya.

Including the World Menstrual Sanitation Day event report, we will keep posting the news as our donors well know about the project.

We look forward to your continued warm supports. Thank you!
