Hello Diving Duck supporters!
15 have been released into the wild over the last three months.
Some were released here at the Zoo (one duck released in the Zoo’s central lake was fitted with a GPS tracker); and some in other locations including the Hula Valley in the north of Israel.
Don’t miss the video below showing the ducks flying out into the wetlands.
The aim of this release is to test new GPS tracking devices as it is important for us to set up a more accurate system of tracking released individuals in the wild. Two individuals released in the Hula Valley were also be fitted with the new device. Once our team decides on the effectiveness of the new device, we will plan to either acquire more or switch to a different device.
Thank you for your continued support of this important wildlife conservation program.
Warm Regards,
Nicole and the Avian Team at the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo
