Bring Quality Education to 50MM Brazilian Children

THE BRAZILIAN GOVERNMENT COUNCIL PLACES FIRST CHILDHOOD ON THE NATIONAL AGENDA

A country that takes care of Early Childhood takes care of families; a country that takes care of families takes care of society as a whole.

With this premise, the executive president of Todos Pela Educação, Priscila Cruz, celebrated the creation of the Early Childhood Working Group (GT), installed in August within the scope of the Social and Sustainable Economic Development Council – also known as “Conselhão” , an advisory body to the federal government. With joint technical reporting from Todos and the Maria Cecilia Souto Vidigal Foundation, the Early Childhood GT was one of the few themes selected from the more than 80 suggested. “We need to have in Brazil the best, the most impactful, the most robust and strongest policy for Early Childhood in the world. We have to do this. If not now, when? The time has come for us to work for our children”, said Priscila, one of the proponents of the GT, alongside Ligia Moreiras, a doctor in public health.

The group's objective is to build an unprecedented National Integrated Policy for Early Childhood in Brazil, capable of articulating Education, health, food, social assistance and other areas fundamental to the integral development of all children (find out more details about the GT's work in section Mobilization of key actors). This is why the work on this topic goes beyond the GT. The mission includes identifying best practices in Early Childhood (access here best practices in our document on Early Childhood, in Portuguese), collecting data on the topic and, of course, mobilizing key actors for the centrality of this stage to (re)define the future of Brazil.
