Bringing lifesaving healthcare in Lebanon

In a phase marked by a devastating socio-economic collapse and the further escalation of armed conflict in Lebanon, Pro Terra Sancta maintains a constant presence in Beirut to respond to the deepest and most complex needs of a population prostrated by the bombings. At the local Shelter, the organization carries out an integrated intervention centered on psychosocial support and socio-educational assistance, led by local professionals and field workers, such as the psychologist Josette and the educator Ralph, who share firsthand the very same wounds and hardships as those they serve. Field activities focus on clinical listening and the processing of trauma, grief, and anxiety for vulnerable adults and families, alongside tailored programs for children. Through expressive tools such as art, drama, and storytelling, combined with the restoration of a structured routine, children are guided in overcoming post-traumatic stress disorder and rebuilding confidence in themselves and others.

Among the many displaced and vulnerable people who come to the center seeking help, there is an elderly man who, after being examined by the doctor and told he was in perfect health, simply replied: "I know, but at least I have someone to talk to."

In a context where the population has nearly exhausted its emotional and material resources, Pro Terra Sancta's work stands as an essential safeguard of protection, dignity, and continuity, demonstrating that rebuilding the human and psychological fabric of a war-torn community can only happen through presence, sustained care, and a shared commitment, one step at a time.
