2026 Progress Report: Empowering Rural Children Through Literacy

Rural Literacy Solutions

As of March 2026

Dear Valued Donors and GlobalGiving Supporters,

Thank you for believing in our mission to bring the power of reading and learning to children in rural Ghana. Your generosity is transforming lives, one book and one lesson at a time. We are excited to share this first quarter update on the meaningful impact we have achieved so far in 2026, thanks to your continued support.

Highlights of Our Work This Year

500 Children’s Storybooks Donated to Kanvilli Nuriya.

In early 2026, we delivered 500 vibrant, age-appropriate storybooks directly to the children of Kanvilli Nuriya. These books—filled with colourful illustrations, local stories, and engaging English and Dagbani content—are now being used daily in homes and classrooms. Many families have told us their children eagerly carry the books to school and read aloud to younger siblings, sparking a new love for stories and learning. This donation has instantly expanded access to reading materials where libraries are scarce and textbooks are limited.

After-School Literacy Tuition Programme Now Running at Kanvilli Nuriya Primary.

Our flagship after-school literacy programme is fully operational at Kanvilli Nuriya Primary School. Every week, dedicated volunteer tutors and our local team provide free, focused tuition in reading, writing, and comprehension to dozens of enthusiastic primary-school children.

The sessions are designed to:

- Strengthen foundational literacy skills

- Build confidence in English (the language of instruction)

- Support children who need extra help beyond regular class time

Parents and teachers have already reported noticeable improvements in classroom participation and homework completion. The smiles on the children’s faces as they proudly read their first full sentences tell the real story of impact.

Why This Matters in Rural Ghana

In communities like Kanvilli, many children face challenges, limited reading materials, Your donations are directly removing these barriers, giving every child the opportunity to dream bigger through education.

 Looking Ahead

With your ongoing support, we plan to:

- Expand the book donation programme to two additional communities

- Increase the number of after-school tuition sessions

- Introduce simple take-home reading packs for families

Every dollar you give goes straight to books, tutor training, and materials—no overheads are taken from donor funds.

A heartfelt thank you from the entire Rural Literacy Solutions team and, most importantly, from the bright young learners of Kanvilli Nuriya. Your partnership is lighting the path to a more literate, hopeful future for rural Ghana.

Together, we are making literacy possible.
