Warmest greetings from Guatemala.
The rainy season is upon us but so far there has not been much rain. The local farmers have not been able to plant their first crop of corn, which is troubling, since corn is a stable diet here. We are hoping the thunder storms arrive soon.
In this newsletter report for June, we are featuring Sheila.
Sheila showed up at the gate of our house about 2 years ago. We feed the local strays out there every morning but, we saw that she was particularly decrepit, so we took her in.
We immediately noticed her calm and kind demeanor. Even the vet noticed her fighting spirit so we gave her a very Irish name – Sheila!
It’s been 2 years since her rescue and just look at how she has gotten her life back.
Sheila now lives with the guardian family of a neighboring property and we still provide a budget for food and on-going veterinary care, and toys of course!
I framed Sheila in a collage of some of the students of the Integral Heart Family School in Antigua Guatemala. We are 100% Crowdfunded. Besides the 6 rescue dogs who are currently awaiting adoption at our school, we also take care of the education, nutrition and development of 70 children ages 4-12 years, with your help.
So, take a bow. Accept a wag as a sign of big thanks from all of us, 2 and 4-legged!
And, a heads-up: On Wednesday, July 12, we are having a MATCH on donations up to 50%.
This is just a one-day event but since it is falling in the middle of the summer, it is critically important to our continued success here in Guatemala. Stay tuned for more news.

With best wishes :-)
