Great progress is being made on construction of the middle school. The community has come together to help support the work with the hope that it will be finished in time for the new school year that starts in October. Brick work is complete for the main buildings (classrooms, administration offices, and the security building), and roofs are being raised using an innovative technique that requires more welding, but should be long lasting and prevent leaks. Work has also begun on building the latrines.
The timing for availability of the middle school aligns well with the best student performance ever seen in Konkourona and many schools in Burkina Faso. A record number of 46 out of 50 students who were attending the elementary school (plus 2 students who were being home schooled) passed the middle school entrance exam.
