Dear Donors,
We sincerely thank the donors who have supported the Build a Non-Profit Hospital to End Maternal Deaths project. Your support shows compassion for women and newborns in Ogodo and surrounding villages who currently have little access to proper medical care.
Ogodo is a remote community in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State where healthcare services are extremely limited. Pregnant women often depend on traditional birth attendants or small informal clinics that lack proper equipment and trained personnel. When complications arise during childbirth, families struggle to find urgent medical help.
Many deliveries take place at home without skilled supervision. When emergencies such as severe bleeding, infection, or obstructed labour occur, there are no nearby facilities capable of performing life-saving procedures. Because of this, pregnancy in the community carries serious risk for both mothers and babies. In addition, conditions such as postpartum mental health problems are sometimes misunderstood and left untreated.
This project aims to build and equip a nonprofit hospital that will offer free healthcare services to residents of Ogodo and neighboring villages. The hospital will include maternity wards, surgical services, diagnostic support, and trained medical staff who can provide safe childbirth care and emergency treatment.
A functioning hospital in this area will allow families to receive medical attention closer to home. Mothers experiencing complications will have access to trained professionals, and newborns will receive proper care during their first days of life.
While we appreciate the contributions received so far, the current amount cannot yet cover the initial phase of construction or equipment procurement. Because of this, work on the hospital has not started. We continue to seek further assistance so that this plan can move from preparation to construction and begin serving the community.
Sincerely,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
