The Build Classrooms and Latrines Project in Majak Goi Village is a powerful example of how collective generosity can transform lives, even with limited resources. In 2024, through the GlobalGiving platform, we successfully raised USD 966 with the support of generous individual donors through globalgiving platform, who believe in the power of education and dignity for children in rural communities.
Although the funds were initially intended to support the construction of classrooms and latrines, the urgent needs of our community school guided us to make immediate, high-impact investments that would directly benefit learners and teachers.
With the USD 966 raised, we were able to:
a) Purchase 68 textbooks to improve learning and reading outcomes
b) Provide 4 cartons of chalk, pens, and 4 notebooks to support daily classroom activities
c) Pay incentives for 8 volunteer teachers, recognizing their commitment and helping them continue teaching despite difficult conditions
This support created meaningful and positive change at our school. Learners now have access to learning materials that were previously unavailable, improving attendance, participation, and motivation. Teachers felt encouraged and valued, which strengthened their dedication to serving children from humble backgrounds.
Most importantly, this contribution restored hope and dignity to the children and the wider Majak Goi community. Parents, teachers, and pupils alike witnessed that the world has not forgotten them and that even small donations can make a big difference when driven by compassion and solidarity.
We remain deeply grateful to all donors who supported this project. Your generosity laid a strong foundation for our long-term goal of building permanent classrooms and latrines, ensuring a safe, healthy, and conducive learning environment for every child in Majak Goi. We believe that we will be able to construct permanent classrooms, latrines, computer lab and library through your continued support.
1. 2026 Work Plan Priorities
In 2026, our organization will focus on strengthening access to quality education, improving student welfare, and promoting a healthy and sustainable learning environment. The following priority activities are designed to address critical gaps in sanitation, learning resources, teacher motivation, and environmental protection.
1) Construction of Two Latrine Blocks
To improve hygiene, dignity, and school attendance especially for girls. We plan to construct two permanent latrine blocks at the school.
Cost: USD 12,000
2) Provision of School Uniforms and Shoes for 250 Students
Many children attend school without proper uniforms or footwear, which affects attendance and learning confidence. We aim to support 250 vulnerable students with uniforms and shoes.
Cost: USD 8,750
3) Shipping of Used Laptops and Tablets from McLish Middle School, Stonewall (USA) to Deng Maker Primary School (South Sudan)
This initiative will enhance digital learning and exposure to technology. The devices have been pledged, but the shipping and logistics costs are still being assessed.
Cost: To be determined
4) Incentives for 8 Volunteer Teachers
To retain and motivate volunteer teachers who play a critical role in sustaining education delivery, we will provide annual incentives.
Cost: USD 3,600
5) Distribution of Textbooks and Sanitary Pads to Students
This activity will support academic performance through access to learning materials and promote menstrual hygiene management for girls, reducing absenteeism.
Cost: USD 4,670
6) Planting of 250 Fruit Trees
As part of our environmental and climate action efforts, we plan to plant 250 fruit trees to improve nutrition, provide shade, and promote environmental conservation.
