Dear Global Giving Supporter,
Warm Greetings, from Morocco, as warm as Amal’s everlasting smile!
Summer, the most awaited season in the northern hemisphere, the season of vacation, swimming and sunbathing, is for our youths the time to have some rest, after a long year of hard labor and before starting a training period.
Amal who is aptly named, her name means Hope in Arabic, is a trainee in a famous foundation in Marrakech. She contributes, daily, to the development of children and adults suffering from various disabilities. Moreover, she is supporting kids in different activities such as dance, memory games and reading. According to her managers, she is doing a great job, being always punctual and very motivated. Amal is also eager to learn and takes classes in French and English, she lives in the student residence and takes the bus to get to her training.
In SOS Children’s villages, we are committed to empowering young people and pushing them forward, so that they turn into independent adults and stand on their own two feet, have a job and be stable in both, social and economic, levels.
In order to keep our commitment, several programs have been launched to develop youth’s soft and hard skills. Different partnerships with companies have been arranged to better prepare them to face the job market’s challenges.
Last June, SOS Children's Village organized in Marrakech one of its most successful Youth Forums focusing on the topic of Entrepreneurship and Green Professions. Several school and vocational orientation workshops were animated as they remain the occasion for young adults to have a clear vision of the existing opportunities in the national market, allowing them to choose their fields of study or training and successfully integrate the active work life.
The forum was also distinguished by the intervention of some Moroccan high achievers each one in his/her field to give our youths some models of success stories to motivate them. Some professional guidance counselors have also participated, as well as several companies as part of a mentorship with their employees.
Enrolled in her last year of high school, Amal who was one of the 50 beneficiaries, testifies: «these workshops are valuable for those of us who require school orientation pre and post high school graduation. It is through the diversity of the programs and the contents of the workshops that I learned to plan myself and project my future career in a clearer and more assertive way. "
In addition, these workshops have allowed the youths to get to know one another and develop a better coexistence with their personal and professional entourage. The young people left these workshops with tools, tips, simple and practical advice that can be directly applied to their daily life.
If we are able to take a good care of our children until they become independent adults, it’s thanks to you and all our donators and partners all over the world, who contribute to save children and give them back the natural right of belonging to a family and grow up safely.
We are so proud to count you among our big SOS family and on behalf of all our children, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Warmest regards.
Samira KABBA
