Our teachers and assistants who run the non-formal education in the brick kilns, are very passionate about transforming the lives of children through education. Many of them have been with our partner organisation for over eight years and in this time have committed to improve their own learning - with some taking distance degrees in social work and education.
We are committed to ongoing professional development and during this year will be running a series of training sessions with them, to ensure that the quality of education offered is to children is to the highest standard.
The teachers recently completed refresher training in Early Childhood Development, in particular around how to use creative and engaging methods to work with children unused to formal education settings. Coming up soon are trainings in personal safety education (aimed at raising awareness and preventing child sexual abuse), pre-school and primary school curriculum, creative materials and methods for learning, and how to work with slow learners.
The partner is working with a range of specialists in these areas to deliver this work.
