Over the past three months, the Organization for Responsible Governance (ORG) has made significant strides in strengthening the non-profit sector in The Bahamas. Through targeted training, capacity-building initiatives, and the launch of innovative tools, ORG continues to empower NGOs and faith-based organizations to enhance their impact.
ORG recently concluded its Cluster Training for the Environment, held in partnership with the Bahamas Protected Areas Fund. The final session focused on advocacy and strategic communication, equipping leaders of environmental and conservation nonprofits with the tools needed to amplify their impact and drive meaningful change. This training provided essential knowledge and resources to organizations dedicated to environmental sustainability, enabling them to enhance their advocacy efforts and increase public engagement.
Another major milestone has been the launch of Map4Good Bahamas, an initiative designed to improve visibility, collaboration, and resource allocation for over 1,400 non-profit and faith-based organizations across the archipelago. This platform offers a comprehensive directory and interactive map, allowing individuals to find support services while enabling organizations to connect and coordinate more effectively. The project, supported by Sanigest International, includes a detailed survey and data analysis to provide a dynamic picture of non-profit activities in The Bahamas. Key stakeholders have recognized the importance of increased collaboration and access to critical resources, reinforcing the potential of this initiative to strengthen the sector.
Looking ahead, ORG plans to expand its Cluster Training program, working alongside other non-profit and academic institutions to provide more opportunities for capacity building. Furthermore, ORG has developed a roadmap to coordinate and guide the sustainable growth of the sector, ensuring that non-profits have access to the resources and networks they need to thrive.
Your support through GlobalGiving has been instrumental in enabling these advancements. As we continue to build a stronger, more connected civil society in The Bahamas, we invite you to follow our progress and get involved.
