Chickens, deer, and a lot of fun

By Julia Krepska | Director

We arrived at the children's home just as the boys were finishing the end of year exams and starting their holiday - so a perfect timing to spend some great time together. The home looks great, super clean and even more homely than before. The boys are very happy and we can't believe that those little boys that joined us some time ago are now very clever, confident young men. We spent a lot of time working through their plans for their future. 3 boys started their work experience placement at a 5 star hotel and are doing brilliantly. Another 2 boys will be doing their internship at the newly opened shopping centre and this should provide them with different opportunities to move to Kathmandu in the future should they wish to do so. Most boys want to go onto university and we will be supporting them through everything.

Our wonderful egg giving chickens are doing really well - the boys are great with them, so even the chickens are getting a lot of love and attention at the home. All boys look so healthy. We think it's due to their really good diet - you can't beat fresh eggs and organic home grown vegetables!

We went on a short trip to a nearby nature park where we saw a lot of deer, bunnies with their babies of various ages and a great playground area for the children. We were amazed to see so many changes in the area - finally some places for the children and young people. Just a few minutes walk from our children's home there is a new games centre where our boys can enjoy go karts, trampolines, sports and games. This is a really big deal in the area. We spoke to the owner and he genuinely wanted to help young people and open something for them as no other opportunities there. All the boys are very excited and we think they will be returning to the games centre very soon!

Holidays have just finished so boys are back at school. Many are now in their last year and two have just finished school so will be starting college in the next couple of months. It is so exciting to see them develop so well.

More updates coming soon.

And a huge thank you to all our supporters - it all means so much!!
