Let's talk about the future

By Julia Krepska | Founder and Director

So Gopi and Rohit have started college!!! This is huge and we are so proud of them! Both boys are still staying with us until we help them with their first steps into the independent future. Gopi is already working at the shopping mall and saving money for his future rent. We are still finalising a job for Rohit as he likes to change his mind a lot - but he will excel in anything he puts his heart into. We used to call him 'our little genius' when he joined our Children's Home for a good reason! In the next two - three months the boys should both be independent (but under our close watch and support with anything they might need). We will be covering their college fees but they will start covering their living expenses and both are very excited about that. We will keep everyone updated!

We will have an amazing lady and a teacher volunteering with us shortly until December. Jessica will help with our End to Child Labour project classes and then at the Children's Home during the long upcoming holidays. She is a passionate gardener and cannot wait to help the boys sort out our garden and implement some new exciting techniques. With the prices of everything going up massively in Nepal, it will be great to grow even more of our own veg!

From the next school year, we are planning to move all our younger boys to a better school - 5 of our boys are already attending it. To do that, the boys need to study more and pass their exams, which is not that easy. We are now providing them with extra classes and the new school will be supplying an extra teacher just for our boys to prepare them for the new school. All the boys love the school - even those that don't study there yet go there frequently to play football and other sports. Facilities are great and it is very near our Children's Home. We are keeping all our fingers crossed for them!

And when the weekend comes, the dance classes come - our boys' favourite time. They have a great teacher so we think soon we will have a professional dancing team in Birgunj!

Thank you so much for all the support. It means so much. Our street children project is the most difficult to raise funds for so we are very grateful for everything that you have done to give these boys an opportunity for a bright future.

Thank you
