While the coronavirus surges in California, concerns are also arising about the possibility of major wildfires across the state before the virus is under control.
Sen. Kamala Harris expressed extreme concern about the two coinciding, questioning how FEMA would respond and support efforts to calm the dual crisis.
From Jan. 1 through March 22, 2020, there were 543 wildfires compared with only 169 during the same time period last year, according to CA wildfire statistics on CA.gov.
As of March 25, California is the fourth highest impacted by the coronavirus with 2,102 cases, following:
