HOPLE have conducted a survey on Water scarcity in Gulani Local Government area Yobe State Nigeria, were we being able to identified some communities that are in difficult situation in regards with water scarcity, The people and the children living in the identified communities and their Children are at risk of cholera, bacteria, Typhoid and any disease/water infections as they are using unsafe water for their human and animals consumption.
With the support from individuals and collaboration we were being able to constructed a one borehole to Community with over 700 population size
HOPLE a Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) to carry out drilling, test pumping and casting of platforms for a
maximum of One (01) boreholes at Ruwan Kuka District. The geophysical borehole site investigations were done by
consultant and the results were presented to ministry of water resources. Siting was done at various points in the
community; in the end, one points were successfully drilled and installed mini borehole and are serving the community which has the approximately population of 780 HH.
The contractor carried out the drilling, design installation and well development between 11th and 23rd August 2022.
Test pumping and platform casting was done on two separate occasions for the two boreholes; long duration test pump of 4 steps and 12 hour constant test on the borehole while short constant rate test on the borehole DWD 47551 was done on 31st September 2013. On discussion with the client, both wells were considered for installation of a mini pump. Moreover, in this area, available data did not indicate high chances of achieving better higher yielding boreholes.
The population size of people who will benefited from this Projects was about 800 Household size
CHALLENGES
Thei is many communities were people are suffering due to water scarcity and livelihoods opportunities.
Women and children are the one mostly suffering from the water scarcity as they are the one going out to fetch water .
Typhoid fever and maleria have become a serious problems due to using unsafe water by the community people
Children are not able to go to School as they most go out earlier to fetch water
