Hope for Street Children and Vulnerable People Foundation (HOPLE Org), with funding from GlobalGiving, successfully rehabilitated a non-functional hand pump in Gulani LGA, Yobe State. The intervention aimed to restore access to clean and safe water for the vulnerable community, improving their health and well-being.
Implementation Process
The rehabilitation process involved:
Needs Assessment: Identifying the non-functional hand pump and assessing the extent of repairs required.
Community Engagement: Engaging local stakeholders, including traditional leaders and water user committees, to ensure sustainability.
Rehabilitation Work: Repairing worn-out components, replacing damaged pipes, and conducting water quality tests.
Capacity Building: Training community members on hand pump maintenance to promote long-term functionality.
Impact and Results
Restored clean water access to over 500 people, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases.
Improved hygiene and sanitation practices within the community.
Strengthened community ownership and participation in water resource management.
