Children return to school - because we cared when they were not!

When we started this program in the year 2000, we were so saddened by the number of children we sponsored who actually completed a school year. The diappointment increased, when we witnessed chidlren who did complete a school year, however didnt return for the new academic year.

After much research, and discussion we learned so many factors BIG and SMALL played a major role in keeping children from school.

lack of intererest
poor performance- and lack of confidence that they can do better
children returning to the work force during long vacations, and getting caught up
family loosing interest in having child eduated
girls become mothers during long school breaks
children are trafficked during long breaks to earn family an income.

For 22 years, BASICS, has provided a SAFE HAVEN for children during long holidays, and our dream to make a residental have- in form of a sleep away camp- is soon to be a reality
