The container will soon be ready and we can then coordinate its arrival in camp. Alongside the container we will lifting and securing the foundations of the other two containers, one which serves as a kitchen and the other will turn into our indoor lounge area. We will do this at the same time, as the crane used to put the new container in place can be used to lift the other two. Our office tent also needs to be lifted and foundations secured, but as that is canvas that can be dealt with at another time – although we have acknowledged that this is outside any of our skill set and so will be bringing in expert help. They are currently busy on other jobs and we are finalising dates as to when this important work can be down. Hopefully soon as the termites are working hard on destroying the floorboards!
It is the busy tourism season in Botswana and our camp is located very close to a lodge and so we shall carry out any work that is noisy when the guest are out of camp so not to disturb them.
We love our remote camp, but it sure does make it challenging at times!
Hopefully next update we will have photos of the container in place – being used for storage. Until then enjoy the photos of the elephants, the whole reason we are there in the first place.
