The aim of the project is to sensitize about the causes of cancer in Ghana. Everyone deserves to know the signs and symptoms of cancer, no matter their background, race, sexuality or otherwise. Cancer doesn't discriminate, and neither do we. We help by delivering workshops to community groups, helping them to feel more empowered in their bodies and confident in speaking to healthcare professionals. We adapt workshops suited on the needs of communities, through extensive research and consultation
The level of cancer awareness and access to early detection strategies such as cancer screening and early diagnosis are low in Ghana, especially in rural areas. Communities in Ghana are characterized by limited access to cancer prevention and early detection services, even for the commonest types of cancer.
The Cancer Awareness Workshop is designed to educate the public about cancer prevention and the importance of early detection and screening. The program consists of an education and awareness session on cervical cancer, Breast cancer, Mouth cancer etc. Each workshop aims to introduce basic knowledge of cancer, identifying risk factors and the common signs & symptoms while highlighting the importance of prevention and early detection as ways to reduce the risk of developing these cancers.
Awareness of the importance of the early detection of cancer, knowledge of cancer signs and symptoms, and self-reported cancer-related intentions or behaviors will be higher.
