Parties for children in cancer treatment bring smiles

By Albert Santoli | Project Leader

Dear Friends,

Asia America Initiative thanks you for donating to our ongoing project to help children cope with cancer treatment at the House of Hope in Davao, Philippines.

The Chidren's parties are continuing this year. We were able to have two parties during the Christmas season thanks to GG supporters! We spread the dates to have a "before" and "after" party. Many children were there during the holidays receiving treatment and many arrived just afterwards.

AAI volunteers and House of Hope staff treated the children to a day of happiness, with snacks, toys, books, and play.  It is meaningful to just be a child for a day and feel the friendship and hear the laughter of other children.

Our partner hospitals provide medication free of charge to children fighting cancer. AAI complements their mission by providing nutritional and educational support. We especially try to instill a sense of happy life through our toy giving. This is especially important for young children who need care and guidance.  In addition, older children and teenagers benefit from our related artistic programs. Often, these children whose parents are largely farm laborers, have never had a toy of their own. The cuddly stuffed animals become a touchstone of support as they go through their medical treatments.

If you would like to add to your healing gift for children receiving treatment or begin monthly support, please follow the link below.
