Restoring Hope for Vulnerable Children in Goma

By AWEZAYE | Cordinator

In Goma, eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, ongoing conflict, displacement, and extreme poverty have left many children orphaned, abandoned, or separated from their families. Without a safe place to sleep, enough food, access to healthcare, or the opportunity to attend school, these children face an uncertain future. Our project aims to give them more than immediate relief: it seeks to restore their dignity, protect their well-being, and help them build a safer and more hopeful future.

The project is currently in its preparation and resource mobilization phase. We are identifying qualified trainers and prospective learners while preparing for the activities ahead. Once the necessary resources are secured, the project will work to provide vulnerable children with safe shelter, nutritious food, clothing, medical care, psychosocial support, and access to education and vocational training. Where possible, we will also seek to trace their extended families and support safe, appropriate, and lasting family reunification. Our goal is to help children move beyond survival and regain a sense of belonging, stability, and opportunity.

The total project budget is $95,700, and no funds have been raised to date. Although this means implementation is still ahead, we remain committed to turning this plan into meaningful support for children who urgently need protection and care. Our collaboration with GlobalGiving gives us an important opportunity to reach a wider community of international donors, build trust, and mobilize the resources needed to achieve our goal. We are deeply grateful to GlobalGiving for helping bring this initiative closer to people who can make a difference.

We invite you to be part of this effort. Your donation, whatever its size, can help bring us closer to a future in which vulnerable children in Goma have access to safety, food, healthcare, education, and the support they need to rebuild their lives. By contributing today, you can help transform a promising initiative into practical, lasting assistance for children affected by conflict and poverty. Thank you to everyone who believes that every child deserves protection, care, and a chance to thrive. Together, we can turn hope into action.
