FoodBlessed's Community Fridge Fund (CFF) is dedicated to reducing food waste, fostering a culture of sharing, and building stronger, food-secure communities across Lebanon. Launched in October 2019, the project installs communal fridges in underprivileged areas and refugee camps, providing free access to fresh food for those in need. The goal of the CFF is to raise funds to purchase and install 10 community fridges by the end of 2026. We are 5 fridges away from reaching our goal!
Many families in underprivileged areas and refugee camps in Lebanon lack access to fresh, nutritious food, leaving them vulnerable to hunger. At the same time, surplus food from households, restaurants, and markets often goes to waste, worsening food insecurity and weakening community resilience. We have installed 5 fridges so far, we still need to isntall 5 more to reach the project's first goal by 2026!
These fridges provide accessible locations where households, businesses, and markets can donate surplus food, which is then redistributed to families in need. By turning potential waste into a resource, the project ensures nutritious food reaches vulnerable communities, while fostering a culture of sharing, solidarity, and resilience.
CFF not only meets immediate nutritional needs, but over the long run, it helps strengthen food-secure, connected communities and educates the community about easy ways to distribute food, reduce greenhouse emissions, and reduce food insecurity.
