Science, Math And Hygiene Workshops at Tiny Toones

By Romi Grossberg | Board of Directors

To our dear supporters and friends,

Thanks to your kind donation, you are genuinely helping us to keep our kids safe, healthy and receiving an education. We currently have over 100 hundred students who come daily, and your generousity allows us to keep our doors open.

Last month we were thrilled to welcome from Japan the NGO JECSA - Japan's education Children Support Association. They volunteered their time with our kids and ran some different workshops for them. The first was in science where the kids used microscopes for the first time and had competitve games filling out worksheets in groups. The second workshop was in math where they were introduced to the abacus and learned fun ways to add, subtract and multiply.

For the third workshop, the mothers of many of our kids were invited to join and together (mums, carers and kids) they learnt about hygiene and food preparation. Before Covid, Tiny Toones volunteers used to teach this both at the centre and on outreach, but it hasn't yet been re-established as we still try to get our feet back on the ground. It was beautiful to see the community coming together and learning invaulable tools in a safe environment. Thank you to JECSA for volunteering their time and their expertise.

On a more personal note from me, Romi, please stay tuned for the release of my memoir 'Hip Hop & Hope, One woman's journey in the slums of Cambodia,' which will be released in August. Pre-orders will be available soon. It is the story of Tiny Toones and 50% of all proceeds will go back to the centre.

Much love and appreciation,

Romi, KK and the Tiny Toones family
