Arts collaboration, a performance, and we have a NEW BOOK out!

By Romi Grossberg | Board of Directors

Memoir: Hip Hop & Hope
Memoir: Hip Hop & Hope

To our dear supporters and friends,

Thanks to your continued generousity we are able to keep going, which we appreciate beyond words, and we have lots to report.

A local initiatiative saw a group of NGO's (including Tiny Toones) collaborate on a three-day arts program for the younger children of learning, sharing and bonding with other students, and on the last day an art competition which one of the Tiny Toones students won. The intitiative was called 'Born for Greatness - Dare to Dream of Greatness.'

Tiny Toones students performed at the grand opening of a new local restaurant. We used to perform regularly at events like these but it has been slow coming back from the pandemic. We are thrilled that our dancers each received a small amount of money for their performance.

And lastly, our former General Manager and current Board of Directors member, Romi published her memoir

'Hip Hop & Hope, One woman's journey in the slums of Cambodia.'

50% of all proceeds go back to Tiny Toones (paperback, ebook or audio).

Hip Hop & Hope is part memoir, part history, part travelogue, and completely engaging. Its portrait of Phnom Penh is complicated and indelible. Its story of work in an NGO is inspirational. At this hip hop youth centre, Romi evolves from a frightened burrung to a respected manager who knows the words, the tunes, and the moves.

This is the story of trust and friendship, faith, and belief in oneself even when the world is against you. NGO’s founder KK, Romi, and their kids forge unbreakable bonds and eventually breakdance their way onto the TEDx stage and to sold-out performances in Australia.

Hip Hop & Hope will make you laugh and cry as Romi shares with brutal honesty the highs and lows of life for the forgotten in Cambodia.
