Our Work in Syria

Thank you for supporting the children of Syria!

After ten years of brutal conflict in Syria, half of the country’s children have grown up knowing nothing but conflict, and over 5 million are in need of humanitarian assistance.

Many live in areas where basic services are almost non-existent and the infrastructure they rely on has been decimated. More than half the population has been forced to flee their homes, and thousands of children have been orphaned or separated from their families in the chaos of war.

Attacks on education, displacement and child labor have contributed to a situation in which millions of children are out of school, depriving them of basic skills and a safe, protective environment.

With help from donors like you, Save the Children has supported children affected by the war in Syria since 2012. Our programming is essential as it combines emergency, life-saving interventions with activities that support the restoration of basic services, including child protection services, education programming, food distributions and the provision of essential health and nutrition services.

More than ever, our presence – and your support – are a lifeline for children and families caught up in this conflict. One of the children forced to flee violence includes Lujain*, 11, who fled heavy bombardment with her mother, father and five siblings until finally settling in a displacement camp.

"We left the house under heavy bombing. We were displaced without taking anything," Lujain shared with us. Thanks to supporters like you, we've been able to provide Lujain's family with essential supplies, including food and clean water.
