Turning Collective Efforts into Safe Spaces for Children!

By Varsha Jain | Project Leader

Before and After Condition of Aanganwadi
Before and After Condition of Aanganwadi

We are glad to share a positive update from a rural village in southern Rajasthan - made possible through your support.

With your support, village institutions were trained and strengthened, enabling them to mobilize their communities for collective action and long-term benefit.

Earlier, the Anganwadi (government-run childcare centre) was operating from a damaged building, making it unsafe and difficult for children to attend. Despite repeated requests, no action was taken, and during the 2025 monsoon, the situation worsened due to heavy leakage. Concerned for their children’s safety, many parents stopped sending them.

In July 2025, a village monitoring committee was formed and trained with support from Seva Mandir. The committee actively raised the issue, prepared a proposal, and consistently followed up with authorities. Their efforts led to the approval of 2 lakh in September 2025, and the repair work was completed between January and March 2026.

Today, the Anganwadi is safe, clean, and functioning well. Children have started returning, with 8 - 10 out of 14 now attending regularly.

This change reflects the power of strong community institutions coming together to create safer, better spaces for their children.

Thank you for making this possible.
