Quarterly Field Update - April to July 2025

By Edin Sehic | Project Leader

Family Agricultural Program
Family Agricultural Program

Between April and July 2025, our Mobile Outreach Team continued its dedicated journey of standing beside children with cancer and their families throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. This period was marked by compassionate interventions focused on emotional restoration, respectful acknowledgement of grief, and pathways toward meaningful recovery.

We entered homes during times of deep vulnerability, providing not only professional care but also a human connection that reminds each family: you are not alone in this fight.

Highlights of Our Field Work

Rebuilding life through agriculture – Sarajevo
As part of our Family Agricultural Rehabilitation Program, we visited a Sarajevo household to deliver essential agricultural resources. This initiative empowers families to cultivate their own land, supporting economic self-sufficiency while fostering emotional grounding and renewed daily purpose.

Emotional care visit – Sarajevo
In another Sarajevo home, our team provided tailored psychosocial support aimed at easing emotional strain, rebuilding social ties, and strengthening inner resilience during a challenging phase of treatment.

Standing with grieving families – Gornji Vakuf
In Gornji Vakuf, we met with a family mourning the loss of their child. Our role was to be fully present—listening, sharing moments of silence, and offering the comfort of a compassionate presence when words fall short.

Holding space for grief – Sarajevo
Two families in Sarajevo who had recently lost their children to cancer welcomed our team into their homes. Our visits offered a safe environment to express sorrow, while also guiding them toward professional grief counseling services.

Gentle support in mourning – Visoko
We visited a bereaved family in Visoko to create a respectful space for remembrance and open dialogue, walking alongside them through the first fragile steps of life after loss.

Our Reach and Influence This Quarter

Through these heartfelt engagements, our team has:

  • Highlighted the necessity of ongoing psychosocial support, both during treatment and in life after loss
  • Helped families navigate grief with empathy, respect, and patience
  • Promoted resilience through practical rehabilitation tools such as agricultural empowerment
  • Strengthened a trauma-informed culture of care for families facing profound challenges

Looking Forward

In the coming months, we plan to:

  • Broaden family rehabilitation programs to aid post-treatment adjustment
  • Introduce structured workshops to support parents in bereavement
  • Expand outreach to rural and isolated areas where psychological support is less accessible

A Note of Appreciation

To our friends, donors, and partners through GlobalGiving:
Your generosity allows us to be present where it matters most—around kitchen tables, in quiet gardens, and in the homes of grieving parents. We do not arrive with ready-made solutions, but with time, listening, and the steady hand of human connection.

Thanks to you, moments of deep pain can transform into dignity, and isolation can give way to solidarity. Together, we are strengthening resilience and planting hope—one family, one visit, one conversation at a time.
