Support our Emergency Appeal to re-open the Maison

By Sarah-Lynne Rand | Fundraising and Communications Manager

We are heartbroken to contact you today and announce that due to a shortage in funding, we have had to shut the Maison de Benediction, our children's disability centre in Haiti, for 50% of the year. This means that the Maison children families are now only receiving two weeks of respite care a month, rather than four. Aside from the impact this has had on the children, their families have also struggled with the reduced respite support. We’ve responded by providing monthly food rations and home respite support, but this isn’t enough.

We need your help.

This summer we are passionate about getting MdB back to full time so we can deliver the life-transforming support MdB offers. In order to do this, we need your support.

Thanks to the Maison’s efforts within the wider community, we’ve seen stigma against children with disabilities decrease, schools are enrolling children with disabilities for the first time, and children are receiving life-transforming mobility aids like wheelchairs and much more.

Our vision is to continue to support and grow the life-changing facilities the Maison provides. To run the Maison it takes healthcare professionals, disability coordinators, drivers, maintenance staff, nutritionists, physical therapists, Foster Mum’s...and you, our supporters. The Maison, quite simply, cannot function without the generosity and support of our Beni sponsors.

This summer, let’s come together and continue to change these children’s lives for the better. Become a Beni sponsor today for only £27 a month, that’s 90p a day, and help provide full-time life-saving respite care for children in need in Haiti. Donate, pray, fundraise in your community, and follow us for the next 6 weeks as we collectively ask you, our HHA community, to help us raise £17,000 to open the Maison full time again.

Thank you in advance for the support and encouragement you offer Haiti and the Maison de Benediction and all its staff during this difficult time.

The Maison’s motto is ‘Disability is not inability’ and we work every day to show this is 100% true. Be part of the special group who make this happen and become a BENI Sponsor by starting a regular gift today. If you already support HHA with a regular monthly gift, please consider making an additional, one time gift towards the £17,000 we need to re-open the Maison full time for the next year.

Let’s do this together.
