There are occasions that cannot wait: that is why, starting today, we are making our voices heard in support of the ‘Tredicesime dell’Amicizia’ fundraising campaign, Specchio dei tempi’s Christmas initiative which provides elderly people who are lonely and in need with a cheque to help pay their bills, groceries, rent arrears or other urgent expenses.
But also to treat themselves to something special, as we all wish to do, especially at Christmas: a new outfit, a delicious dessert or a special evening at the cinema or theatre. Small gestures that are normal for many of us, but which for some can become an enormous gift. There are still a few months to go, but there is little time to raise the necessary funds and organise the aid.
In 2025, we received 3,469 requests for help. We already know that this year there will be even more. The steady rise in the cost of living, daily expenses and the financial difficulties that many people are facing are causing the number of those in need of support to grow. We want to respond to every single one of these requests.
Requests for help are on the rise, but together we can achieve even more. With just a slightly larger contribution, we can reach out to those who are still alone today and turn a wait into a tangible response.
Thank you for being part of this community which, year after year, chooses not to leave the most vulnerable people on their own.
