Reducing Waterborne Diseases Through Clean Water Access
This quarter, our clean water initiative continued to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of rural communities in Tororo District. For years, families relied on contaminated water sources shared with livestock, exposing them to serious health risks. Unsafe water has contributed to outbreaks of diarrhea, typhoid, and other preventable diseases.

With support from generous donors, communities now have improved access to safer water sources. Families report spending less money on medical treatment because fewer household members are becoming sick. Children are healthier and able to attend school more consistently.
Health education sessions have complemented water access improvements. Community members learned proper handwashing techniques, safe water storage practices, and methods of maintaining sanitation around water points. These activities are helping create lasting behavior change.
Local leaders continue to mobilize residents to protect water sources and promote cleanliness within villages. Water user committees have taken responsibility for monitoring usage and ensuring routine maintenance.
The results are encouraging. Mothers report healthier children, schools report better attendance, and health facilities have observed reduced cases of water-related illnesses. Clean water is not only improving health but also strengthening livelihoods and educational opportunities.
Your continued support is making it possible for more families to enjoy the benefits of safe water. Together, we are building healthier and stronger communities throughout Tororo District.
