Dear Supporters,
Waterborne diseases can place an enormous burden on families and communities when people lack dependable access to safe water and adequate hygiene facilities. Rural households with limited resources may face particular challenges when unsafe water sources are the most accessible options available.
Our clean water initiative seeks to address one important part of this challenge: improving access to safe drinking water for 5,000 rural villagers in Nigeria.
The project will support sustainable water solutions such as boreholes, rehabilitation of existing water points where appropriate, pumping systems, hygiene education, and community-led water management. These interventions are intended to create conditions that help families use safer water sources while strengthening awareness of good hygiene and sanitation practices.
Clean water should be viewed as an investment in prevention. When families have dependable access to safe water, they have a stronger foundation for handwashing, food preparation, household cleaning, and other practices that support public health.
The benefits can extend beyond individual households. A functioning community water point can serve many families and become a shared resource that supports schools, caregivers, children, older people, and people living with vulnerabilities.
However, sustainable water access requires more than installation. Communities must understand how to protect water sources, report problems, maintain equipment, and promote responsible use. That is why community participation and local ownership are integral to our approach.
Your donation can help us build this foundation for 5,000 rural villagers. Every contribution moves the project closer to expanding safe water access and strengthening rural WASH systems.
Together, we can support communities in preventing avoidable water-related health challenges and building healthier futures.
Best wishes,
Empower Future Initiative Team
