Dear Donora
Karitas Relief Mission continues to pursue its mission of improving the living conditions of vulnerable rural communities through access to clean and safe water.
For many years, families in Butonda, Kasaala and Bukandula villages have lived without reliable sources of clean and safe drinking water. Residents have been forced to depend on distant and unsafe water sources, including unprotected wells and other contaminated water points. Women and children carry the greatest burden, often spending several hours searching for water instead of attending to school, household responsibilities and other productive activities.
Following our engagement with community members and local leaders, the lack of clean and safe water emerged as one of the most urgent challenges facing these villages. This motivated Karitas Relief Mission to prioritize a borehole drilling initiative to bring lasting relief to the affected communities.
Project Progress
We are pleased to report that we have taken an important step towards implementing this project. Hydro Tech Uganda Ltd, the company contracted to undertake the drilling works, has already visited and inspected the proposed project locations.
During their technical assessment, the team conducted surveys to identify suitable drilling points. Their findings confirmed promising locations where underground water is available, giving hope that the proposed boreholes can provide reliable water sources for the communities.
Hydro Tech Uganda Ltd has assured us that they are ready to commence the drilling works as soon as the required payment is made.
Expected Impact
Once completed, the project will significantly improve access to safe drinking water, reduce the distance families travel in search of water, promote better hygiene and sanitation, and help protect children from waterborne diseases.
It will also give women and girls more time to concentrate on education, family responsibilities and income-generating activities.
Our Current Need
Although important groundwork has been completed, the actual drilling works are still pending. We are therefore appealing to our generous donors and well-wishers to support us in raising the funds required to begin construction.
For these communities, clean water is not simply a development project; it is a matter of health, dignity and survival.
Karitas Relief Mission remains committed to working alongside these communities until every family has access to clean and safe water.
