Dear supporter,
We have some bad news to share with you. Last month during Israeli attacks on Gaza, a school and a kindergarten where MECA built water purification units were badly damaged. Below are photos from our Maia Project Coordinator on site visits. Both schools are closed and we are looking for alternate locations to move the water purification units while the schools are repaired so the units can continue to provide safe, clean water for children.
In the meantime, we have also built two new large water purification units that serve nearly 6000 children in Gaza, one new water filter that serves 450 children, and a refurbished water purification unit that serves 1000 children.
Our team in Gaza continue to monitor all the water purification units and work hard to ensure we are meeting the needs of more and more children. For example, one of the new water purification units we built is located in the perfect spot to serve two schools so we were able to build a larger unit and provide clean water to another 2000 children with minimal extra costs!
Thank you so much for supporting this vital project for Palestinian children in Gaza!
